The Yamaha Jet Blaster is a fantastic personal watercraft. It combines the playful handling riders expect from the rec-lite category with the ride quality and dependability Yamaha is known for.
However, the Jet Blaster does lack some of the creature comforts found on larger personal watercraft. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Most people buy a Jet Blaster because they want a lightweight, fun ski that can be thrown around while still remaining comfortable enough to ride throughout the day.
That does not mean there is no room for improvement.
The Jet Blaster 2-Up Reboarding Problem
One issue frequently discussed by Blaster owners is the lack of a convenient, dedicated reboarding handle.
Yamaha included two factory grab points near the rear of the ski. One is located above the tow eye, while the other is positioned in the center of the rear deck. Although these grab points are helpful, their placement can make them difficult to reach and use while reboarding in deep water.
The lower grab point may be difficult to reach from the water, while the center grab point does not always provide the height or leverage needed to pull yourself onto the rear deck. Even with Yamaha’s accessory reboarding step installed, some riders may still struggle to get enough leverage.

Our Yamaha Jet Blaster 2-Up Rod Holder was originally designed to provide a secure location for fishing rods, flags, and action cameras. During testing, we found that its elevated position also provides riders with a convenient secondary grab point while climbing back onto the ski.
Because the rod holder sits higher than the factory rear grab points, it can provide improved reach and leverage while reboarding. Its shape also gives the rider a larger area to grip compared with the lower factory locations.
The rod holder should be used as an additional grab point and is not a replacement for the factory reboarding step or other Yamaha safety equipment.
Built for Strength and a Clean Finish
The rod holder uses more than 500 grams of material and was designed with the direction of the 3D-printed layer lines in mind. This helps reduce stress across weaker layer directions when force is applied.
The design also avoids unnecessary support material during printing, producing a cleaner surface finish while maintaining the strength and structure required for normal use.
In addition to holding rods, flags, and cameras, the elevated mounting position makes the rod holder one of the most versatile upgrades available for the Yamaha Jet Blaster 2-Up.
